Zygoma Implants Costa Rica

Frequently asked questions

I was told I don’t have enough bone for implants. Can I still get fixed teeth?

Very often, yes — that is exactly the kind of case we focus on. Instead of grafting, techniques such as zygomatic and pterygoid implants anchor directly into your own basal bone (in areas like the cheekbones or the posterior upper jaw). We confirm which option fits you after a clinical evaluation and a CT scan.

Do I need a bone graft first?

Our approach is graftless: we anchor specialized implants in dense bone that is still there, so you avoid the cost and the months of waiting that grafts require — and you can receive a fixed provisional prosthesis right away.

Will I leave with teeth?

Yes. You’ll receive a set of fixed temporary teeth on the very same day of your procedure, or the next, and walk out with a full, natural-looking smile. The definitive restoration comes after the implants integrate with the bone.

Will I be awake? Does it hurt?

Most surgeries are outpatient, under local anesthesia with IV sedation, so you are relaxed and feel no pain during the surgery. A physician anesthesiologist monitors your vital signs throughout. Complex cases are done in the hospital under general anesthesia, and we coordinate your transportation.

Who performs the surgery?

Every surgical procedure is led by our founder, Dr. Ronald Torres Labardini, a board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and professor at the University of Costa Rica.

Where are you, and how far is it from the airport?

In Tower 1 of Hospital CIMA San José, in Escazú — less than 30 minutes from Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO).

How is the surgery planned?

We merge your photographs, intraoral scan and 3D CT scan into a virtual model of your anatomy, perform the surgery virtually with millimeter-level accuracy, and fabricate custom surgical guides so each implant goes exactly where it was planned.

How much does it cost?

Every case is different, so the plan — and its cost — is defined after your evaluation and CT scan. Write to us and we will guide you through the first step.

Do you speak English?

Yes. Consultations are available in English and Spanish.
